    Your cabin air filter helps keep exhaust gases, dust, pollen and odors out of your vehicle’s ventilation system. A dirty filter can block airflow, which can cause heating and cooling problems in your car and health problems for your family. Your Cabin Air Filter should be replaced once a year or every 20,000kms. We’ll show you how it’s done.

    Make Safety Your Top Priority
     

    Every vehicle is different, so when it comes to maintenance and repairs, always follow the vehicle's owner's manual. Don't work with a Philips when it calls for flat. Substituting tools can compromise your safety or your vehicle's performance.

    Safety should be your number one priority, so don't smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, or wear a necktie. And watch out for hot objects, sharp instruments, hazardous materials and other potential safety hazards in and around your workspace.

    And finally, when the fun turns to frustration or if the job requires specialized knowledge beyond your abilities, seek the assistance of a Parts Pro, professional mechanic or installer. The last thing we want is someone getting hurt.

     
    Before you Begin

    Not all vehicles have a cabin air filters – but most manufactured since 2001 will.

    		  


    Locate the cabin air filter. It is usually located under the hood or underneath the dashboard on the passenger side. Refer to your owner’s manual for location, or get free print out instructions from your local PartSource.
    Remove the old filter.

    IMPORTANT - If the filter is located under the hood other parts may have to be removed before you can access the filter. See your local PartSource for vehicle specific instructions.
    Before you install the new filter, vacuum out the cabin air filter box. Then wipe down the inside with the damp rag.
    Check the gasket for any wear or damage, replace if needed.
    Install the new cabin air filter.
    Put the cover back on to seal the cabin air filter.
