How To Replace Fuel Pump on
Dodge Neon (1995-1999)

One of our customers recently told us that a fuel pump is like the left ventricle in the human heart. We're not medical doctors, but we know that your car depends on the fuel pump to feed the engine, and if the fuel pump isn't working it can cause serious damage to the rest of your car. Thankfully, performing a fuel pump change on a Dodge Neon isn't as hard as you might think.

This month, the Parts Pros take you through the steps to change the fuel pump on a 1995-1999 Chrysler, Dodge, or Plymouth Neon. You'll need a few tools on-hand to get the job done so read through the instructions once or twice to make sure you've got what you need. And remember that you can always contact the Parts Pros at PartSource in case you need some help.

Make Safety Your Top Priority

Every vehicle is different. When it comes to maintenance and repairs, always follow the vehicle's owner's manual.

Safety should be your number one priority. Don't smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, or wear a necktie while working on the car. Watch out for hot objects, sharp instruments, hazardous materials and other potential safety hazards in and around your workspace.

Don't work with a Philips when the job calls for a flat. Substituting tools can compromise your safety or your vehicle's performance.

Finally, when the fun turns to frustration, or if the job requires specialized knowledge beyond your capabilities, please do not attempt it yourself. Talk to a Parts Pro or seek the assistance of a professional mechanic or installer. The last thing we want is someone getting hurt.
